The flag of austria

The Federal State of Austria was a relatively short lived country located in south central Europe from 1918 to 1938. The territory once known as Austria now makes up the southern territories of the Greater Germanic Reich.

History[]

World War I and establishment[]

Before World War I, Austria was one half of Austria-Hungary, and a member of the Central Powers. They were defeated at the end of the war and Austria-Hungary was dissolved.

Interwar period[]

Austria's interwar life was marked with political turmoil and economic hardship. In 1934, a brief civil war broke out between socialist forces and the government, which was taken over by the Austrofascist Fatherland Front.

Anschluss[]

During this time, Adolf Hitler became leader of Germany, and Austria, his homeland, was the first target of his pan-German ambitions. In 1938, Austrian Nazis led by Arthur Seyss-Inquart took control of the government after Hitler threatened invasion, and the country was incorporated into the Reich without firing a shot in defense.

Legacy[]

Austria has been completely incorporated into the Reich, and any idea of an independent Austria being restored is all but gone, with most of the youth having little idea of the former nation, and the vast majority of the population being highly supportive of the Reich.
